The Government of Navarre will invest €1.5 million to strengthen telecommunications infrastructure and the territory’s connectivity.

The Board of Directors of the public company NASERTIC (Navarra de Servicios y Tecnologías), attached to the Department of Presidency and Equality, has analyzed the financial closing of the 2025 fiscal year and the investment forecast for the next 3 years, which includes 1.5 million euros in new actions aimed at strengthening telecommunications infrastructures and improving the technological resilience of the Chartered Community.

These investments will make it possible to expand and modernize infrastructures belonging to the public telecommunications network of the Government of Navarra in order to improve access to telecommunications services across the territory, once again contributing to territorial cohesion in terms of digitalization, as well as reducing the gap in access to telecommunications services.

To this end, the planned investments include 500,000 euros for the construction of a telecommunications center in the area of Goñiburu, aimed at improving coverage in the Irati Forest; 100,000 euros for the expansion of the telecommunications center in Ujué / Uxue, with the goal of improving the Terrestrial Digital Television (DTT) broadcasting service in the area; and an additional investment of 350,000 euros to continue improving fiber optic connectivity of the telecommunications centers of the Government of Navarra, a key action to enhance the capacity and stability of the services provided from them (DTT, emergency communications, connectivity in educational centers, health centers, etc.).

In addition, given the essential role of electronic communications networks and services as a means to guarantee quality public services for all citizens, it is necessary to ensure the resilience and availability of telecommunications infrastructures. Work will focus on strengthening response capacity, recovery, and operational continuity in the face of incidents such as the recent national power outage on April 28, which may cause service interruptions or significant degradation in the conditions under which they are provided.

In this context, the planned investments include 150,000 euros for the acquisition of the necessary infrastructure to enable a mobile telecommunications center, capable of being deployed in exceptional situations to reinforce coverage in emergency communications and facilitate the restoration of telecommunications services. In addition, an investment of 400,000 euros is planned for the installation of generator sets in telecommunications centers, as a measure to guarantee the resilience of these infrastructures and ensure the continuity of the services they provide in the event of incidents that may compromise the energy supply.
