Vice President Remírez and Minister Irujo highlight in Shenzhen the importance of strengthening international technological cooperation to drive innovation and business development in Navarra

First Vice President and Minister of the Presidency and Equality, Javier Remírez, and the Minister of Industry and Business Ecological and Digital Transition, Mikel Irujo, have highlighted during the institutional and business mission taking place these days in Shenzhen (China) the value of international cooperation in driving innovation, technological development, and the competitiveness of companies from Navarra.

This message has been one of the key points emphasized today at the Navarra–Longhua Forum, held at the Longhua International Cooperation Center. It is one of the main events within the mission organized under the Navarra International Plan. Participants in the forum included Arandovo, CEIN, CENER, Das Nano, Gurpea, HR Motor, InnoUp, Lizarte, Luar Technology, NAIR Center, Nasertic, and NR Electrónica.

The aim of this initiative is to strengthen relations between Navarra and one of the world’s leading technological hubs, while fostering new opportunities for collaboration, investment, and knowledge exchange for companies and technology centers in the Autonomous Community.

During the forum, First Vice President and Minister of the Presidency and Equality, Javier Remírez, stressed that the presence of the Navarra delegation in Shenzhen reflects the Government of Navarra’s commitment to “continue strengthening relationships and mutual trust” with a region that has become an international benchmark in innovation and technological development.

Remírez noted that “Shenzhen is an example of transformation and forward-looking vision, a territory that in just a few decades has developed a world-class technological ecosystem, with a strong capacity to connect research, talent, business, and innovation.”

He also highlighted that Navarra, despite its relatively small population size, has “a long industrial tradition, significant technological capacity, and a strong international outlook.” In this regard, he emphasized the need to continue promoting cooperation in areas where both regions share strengths, such as technological innovation, the digital economy, sustainability, advanced industry, research, and talent development.

The Vice President added that “innovation knows no borders and major breakthroughs come from connecting great ideas,” framing this collaboration within Navarra’s goal of developing new technological capabilities and strengthening its links with leading global innovation ecosystems.

For his part, Minister of Industry and Business Ecological and Digital Transition, Mikel Irujo, highlighted “the strong relationship between Navarra and the Chinese district of Longhua, formalized last January with the signing of a cooperation agreement, which enables initiatives such as this forum where our companies can showcase their capabilities and establish commercial ties with China.”

In this context, Irujo underlined “the many shared strengths between Longhua and Navarra, as both are highly complementary in numerous fields,” with the green industry being one of the key areas of alignment, though not the only one. “We are in one of the most dynamic innovation ecosystems in the world,” he explained, also noting that “the ability to bring knowledge to market and create new business opportunities is a benchmark for any region with an industrial vocation.”

Irujo further stressed that Navarra faces major challenges related to digitalisation, the energy transition, and industrial competitiveness—areas in which international cooperation is essential. “Navarra’s companies have strong technological capabilities and a high level of specialization, but we must continue connecting them with leading global innovation hubs to accelerate their growth, promote knowledge transfer, and open up new opportunities for collaboration and investment,” he stated.

He also emphasized the role played by technology centers, universities, and Navarra’s business ecosystem in building an innovation-driven economic model. “Our goal is to strengthen Navarra’s position as an advanced industrial region, capable of attracting talent, developing its own technologies, and competing in international markets with high value-added products and solutions,” he concluded.
